About NICKEL IX

  • August 13-14, 2024

NICKEL IX will involve in-person workshops, classroom simulations, reflective activities and great conversation!

This conference is designed for university faculty, staff and instructors from Canadian universities with a personal interest in, and passion for engineering leadership education. If you are interested in joining, and learning with this welcoming community of educators, you should attend NICKEL IX. No experience in teaching engineering leadership necessary — just an interest to learn and share your perspectives with others.

The theme for the NICKEL IX Conference is Leadership in a Time of Truth and Reconciliation.

The conference will include a tour and presentation by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, which is housed at the University of Manitoba and located on Treaty One Territory, the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Ojibwe-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Red River Métis. The conference program includes opportunities to engage with and learn from those who are at various points in their journey of bringing Truth and Reconciliation into engineering education.
