Distinguished Scholar Award Honours the scholarly contributions of a full-time faculty member from the academic ranks who has made sustained and meaningful contributions to research, education and scholarship. May 15 of current year
Outstanding Contributions Award The Outstanding Contribution Awards recognize the outstanding efforts made by three faculty and staff that contribute to the faculty’s mission, vision and values as outlined by the Dean’s Office. Individuals recognized for this award strive to foster the values of the faculty through their efforts at work. May 15 of current year
Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award Recognizes and individual whose teaching has contributed significantly to the lives of our students and faculty. May 15 of current year

 

►Dean's Teaching Excellence Award 

The FKRM Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award recognizes an individual whose teaching has contributed significantly to the lives of our students and to our Faculty. These individuals have created a learning environment that focuses on excellence in teaching and student engagement. Distinguished teachers will excel in knowledge, organization, communication and evaluation.

NOMINATION PROCEDURES

• Eligibility: anyone who taught a course in FKRM between May 1, 2016 & April 30, 2017

• Deadline: midnight Sunday, May 15, 2017

• Complete and submit the nomination form below by the deadline (one nomination per person).

• You may include up to two letters of support for your nomination -  arrange for the individuals providing letters to send them directly to Jay.Gamey@umanitoba.ca before the deadline, using the email subject: FKRM Dean's Teaching Award Nomination.

NOTE: Nominations that do not follow the above procedures will not be considered.

FKRM Distinguished Service Award


The FKRM Distinguished Service Award honours the service contributions of a staff or faculty member who has made sustained and meaningful contributions to the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management (for at least 5 years). These individuals contribute to creating an outstanding work environment and demonstrate the highest levels of collegiality, resourcefulness, and commitment to the Faculty as evidence in their day-to-day operations and over time.

Eligibility:
•    All FKRM staff and faculty members who have worked full-time between May 1, 2016 and April 30, 2017 are eligible.
•    The deadline for nominations is midnight of April 30th.
•    Individuals are eligible to receive the award once every 5 years.

Nomination Process:
•    The award will be advertised through the FKRM newsletter and website.
•    An announcement of the award will be made by the Dean at Faculty Council once per term.

Nomination Process:

•    FKRM faculty, staff and students may submit on nomination per year.
•    Nominations will be completed online via the FKRM web site and will include:
o    The nominators name;
o    The nominees name;
o    Evidence and specific examples of how the nominee has made sustained and meaningful contributions the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management and helped create an outstanding work environment

Selection Process:
•    The awards committee will meet to review the applications and make recommendations to the Dean.
•    In the case of multiple nominations of one individual, all information submitted about each individual will be considered in its entirety.
•    Results of the selection process and nominations will be kept confidential.
•    Nominees who sit on the FKRM Awards Committee are excluded from the selection process.

Presentation of the Award:
•    Recipients of the award will be notified in writing by the Dean.
•    The award will be presented at a Faculty reception or event selected by the Dean.
•    The name of the award recipient will be placed on a plaque in our Faculty.
•    The recipients photo will be displayed in the awards are in the Active Living Centre.
•    A plaque or framed certificate will be presented to the recipient.
•    The recipient will be announced in the Faculty newsletter and web site.
•    The recipient will receive a professional allowance of $500 to be administered by the Dean’s Office.

Recipients of this award must exemplify the highest standards of excellence, innovation, creativity, leadership, and dedication within their field in any combination of research, teaching and service. 

Eligibility:
•    All FKRM full-time faculty members holding ranks of Instructor I, Instructor II, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor between May 1, 2016 and April 30, 2017 are eligible.
•    The deadline for nominations is midnight of May 15.
•    Individuals are eligible to receive the award once every five years.

•    An announcement of the award will be made by the Dean at Faculty Council once per term.

► Outstanding Contribution Awards (up to three recipients annually)

The Outstanding Contribution Awards recognize the outstanding efforts made by three Faculty and staff that contribute to the Faculty’s mission, vision and values as outlined by the Dean’s office. Individuals recognized for this award strive to foster the values of the Faculty through their efforts at work.

Criteria:
Identified values of the Faculty Include: Excellence, integration, academic freedom, innovation, respect, collegiality, accountability, integrity, sustainability, leadership, teamwork, accessibility, perseverance, compassion, diversity and giving.

Eligibility:
•    Full time employees of the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management between the dates of May 1 to April 30 of the current year.

Nomination Process:
•    The award will be advertised through the FKRM newsletter and website.
•    FKRM faculty, staff and students may submit on nomination per year.
•    Nominations will be completed online via the FKRM web site and will include:
o    The nominators name;
o    The nominees name;
o    Evidence and specific examples of how the nominee’s efforts at work foster one or more values outlined by the Faculty (200-300 word maximum).

Selection Process:
•    The awards committee will meet to review the applications and select three individuals to be recommended to the Dean to be consideration.
•    In the case of multiple nominations of one individual, all information submitted about each individual will be considered in its entirety.
•    Results of the selection process and nominations will be kept confidential.
•    Nominees who sit on the FKRM Awards Committee are excluded from the selection process.

Presentation of the Award:
•    Recipients of the award will be notified in writing by the Dean.
•    The award will be presented at a Faculty reception or event selected by the Dean.
•    The name of the award recipient will be showcased within our Faculty.
•    The recipients photo will be displayed in the awards display in the Active Living Centre.
•    The recipient will be announced in the Faculty newsletter and web site.
