U of M Grads Among First Order of Manitoba Recipients

The Order of Manitoba was established to recognize Manitobans who have demonstrated excellence in achievement leading to outstanding benefits to the social, cultural or economic well-being of Manitoba and its residents.

Among the recipients were a number of University of Manitoba graduates including: Israel Asper, OC, QC, BA/53, LLB/57, LLM/64, LLD/98; Robert Beamish, CM, MD/42, BScMed/44, DSc./89; R.E. (Reg) Forbes, BSA/49; Edwin Jebb, BA/73; Sol Kanee, BA/29, LLD/74; William John McKeag, B.Comm/49, LLD/77; Alfred Monnin, BA/39, LLB/46, LLD/79; William Norrie, BA/50, LLB/55, LLD/93; Howard Pawley, BA/57, LLB/61; Strini Reddy, BEd/74, MEd./81; George T. Richardson, B.Comm/46, LLD/69; Edward Schreyer, BA/60, BEd/62, MA./63, LLD/79; Roger Marshall Smith, BSc/40; and Baldur Stefansson, Dip.Agric/49, BSA/50, MSc/52.

Also among the Order of Manitoba recipients was Pamela Rebello, CertEd/70,BPed/74, MEd/89, who has spent more than thirty years as a cross cultural educator and consultant, dedicated to improving inter-ethnic relations and leadership in the performing arts. She played an instrumental role in establishing the India School of Dance, Music and Theatre, and has served on numerous boards and committees focused on energizing Manitoba's cultural scene.
