Keith Heming, LLB/76, was appointed to the Order of Canada by the Governor General for his commitment to his and other communities in Manitoba. To aid other towns in establishing similar foundations, Heming travels throughout Manitoba offering his assistance.

Emmie Leung, B.Comm(Hons)/76, was rated as one of Chatelaine's top 100 women entrepreneurs as CEO of her own recycling business, International Paper Industries. Shortly after graduating in 1976, Leung moved to Vancouver and started her recycling business which, at the time, was considered quite a novel idea. Miriam Toews, BA/89, was also featured in Chatelaine as one of Chatelaine's `Heroines' for making her mark on the Canadian literary scene with her two novels Summer of My Amazing Luck and A Boy of Good Breeding.

Was Mother Teresa truly a saint? That is the question that Father Brian Kolodiejchuk, MA/81, will try to answer over the next several years in Calcutta. He was appointed by the Missionaries of Charities in Calcutta to research her life, and the miracles she was said to have performed. His findings will be sent to the Vatican, where the decision of her sainthood will be determined by a committee.

Martin Weinberg, B.Comm(Hons.)/83, CEO of Assante Corp., made head-lines after his company reached for the stars - literally. After acquiring Steinberg Moorad & Dunn, the largest independent sports agency, he now manages the assets of many of the American, high profile athletes such as Troy Aikman and Drew Bledsoe.

Frantic Films, a local film production company specializing in computer animation and fi lm and video special effects, made it into the spotlight for their work on the ABC mini-series Storm of the Century.
