CENTRE FOR INDIGENOUS ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES (CIER)

- CIER is an off-campus non-profit organization, created and directed by First Nation Leaders from across Canada. A central feature of CIER's mandate is community-based capacity-building in the field of environmental protection.
- CIER is a First Nations initiated and controlled education program, offered in partnership with the University of Manitoba. If you are accepted you will be registered for the program through the Continuing Education Division, University of Manitoba.
- The program's courses are unique because environmental teachings and information are presented from both the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal perspective. The goal is to provide students with skills and knowledge that support and advocate holistic solutions and strategies to deal with environmenta issues facing First Nations.
- The twenty-seven month program consists of fifteen months of formal study, a three month field practicum and a nine month on the job training component.

- The program is for Aboriginal students over 18 years of age who have a high school diploma or who qualify as a mature student.
