Leader of Tomorrow Scholarships

The prestigious Leader of Tomorrow Scholarships recognize academic giftedness as well as the leadership potential of high school graduates entering studies at the University of Manitoba. Valued at a minimum of $5,000, these scholarships are designed to recognize and encourage exceptional high school graduates from Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario with at least six awards given annually.

The Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship application deadline is 1 December, 2009 for students entering university in the 2010-2011 academic year.

Candidates will require:

A Manitoba high school average of at least 90% based on results in:

  • English 30 or
  • Français 30S and Anglais 30S; and
  • Math 30S; and
  • the highest marks in any 3 of: Biology 30S, Chemistry 30S, Physics 30S, History 30S, Geography 30S, or a language at the 30S level other than Français 30S and Anglais 30S;
  • for Northwestern Ontario high school students, a minimum 90% average based on equivalent courses;
  • demonstrated evidence of leadership qualities and future potential;
  • demonstrated evidence of a high level of communication skills;
  •  a record of community involvement (e.g., school, local community, city-wide/regional, provincial);
  •  demonstrated evidence of special abilities other than those shown by academic results (e.g., aesthetics, athletics, literary accomplishments, languages)

Applicants must submit a Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship application to the Financial Aid and Awards Office by the posted deadline (December 1st). Online applications are now available and paper forms will be mailed to Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario high school counsellors in the fall of each year.
