Demonstrating our Successes - What is Accountability
About?
Participants will be invited to explore their own thinking about
accountability in their own settings. Harvey Secter will help
us consider accountability in our own lives; then facilitated
groups will discuss questions such as: what does accountability
mean to me? and how can I use it well? Harvey Secter is Dean of
the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba and a Professor
of Negotiation and Dispute Resolution. He also acts as a mediator,
arbitrator, trainer and facilitator to business, governments,
and not for profit organizations. Harvey received a B. Com. (1967)
and LL.B. (1992) from the University of Manitoba and a LL.M. (1994)
from Harvard Law School. Prior to studying law, Harvey spent over
twenty years as an executive in the retail industry. In addition
to his involvement in a number of professional associations, he
continues to be active in a variety of community and philanthropic
organizations.

Martin

The Healing Power of Laughter and Relaxation
David
Martin is a professor of clinical psychology at the University
of Manitoba, where he has been teaching for over thirty years.
He is the author of six books in psychology and as won three teaching
awards as a university teacher. In 1995, he was awarded the "Clifford
J. Robson Distinguished Psychologist in Manitoba Award."
Most of his professional work is in the area of counselling and
psychotherapy. He counsels clients himself and trains future clinical
psychologists in counselling and therapy. David frequently gives
workshops for the business and public service communities, in
the areas of communication, conflict resolution, and stress management.
He received a B.A. from Albion and a M.A. and Ph.D. from the University
of Chicago.

Kristjanson

Bibbity-Bobbity-Boo
"Put
it Together and what have you Got?" said the fairy godmother
in Cinderella. This session offers an opportunity to review, what
you have heard, learned and wondered about during the Conference.
Led by the conference Program Chair, Karen Kristjanson, participants
will return to small groups to reflect, share, and plan what to
do "back home". As an Organization Development Specialist,
Karen Kristjanson works with teams, committees, work groups and
systems to help people understand their situation and how to improve
it. This includes team-building, meeting facilitation, process
review and reengineering teams, organizational reviews and focus
groups. Karen joined the University of Manitoba in 1997, having
previously worked for the federal government and the Child Guidance
Clinic of Winnipeg. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University
of Manitoba, a M.Sc. in Social Psychology from the London School
of Economics and Political Science, and recently a Masters in
Applied Behavioural Science from the Leadership Institute of Seattle.
