Pioneer Study Launched for Osteoporosis

Manitoba was selected to pioneer a study called Maximizing Osteoporosis Management in Manitoba (MOMM). The study, which will involve nearly 3,000 Manitoba women who have this "brittle" bone disease, is being funded by a $1 million grant from Merck Frosst Canada & Co. The MOMM project, co-chaired by Kin Yuen, family medicine, and Colleen Metge, pharmacy, will help both the patient and physician to optimize diagnosis, prevention and management of the disease.
