Office of Research EDIA
The Vice President Research & International Office (VPRIO) acknowledges the historical and current barriers for researchers from marginalized groups. The Office is committed to supporting research opportunities and excellence for all researchers at the University of Manitoba, guided by the mission to transform research culture, to advance understanding, and create positive societal impact. The University will continue to be leaders in local, national and global research and extend research excellence via authentic integration of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA).
The Office of Research EDIA in VPRIO will support embedding EDIA throughout research processes at UM to carve a path for underrepresented researchers and works collaboratively across UM to uphold the principles of EDIA for positive change at the institution.
Please note: Resources are for internal use. However, individuals are welcome to connect with the Research EDIA Department for queries.
Horizon Europe
On July 3, 2024, the Prime Minister announced that Canadian researchers and organizations have been given the opportunity to participate in the Horizon Europe program “on equal terms with their EU counterparts”.
The University of Manitoba (UM) understands that this opportunity comes with the commitment to implement, monitor, and evaluate actions related to gender equity considerations in its operations, and particularly within a research and innovation context. At UM, gender equity planning is congruent with the institutional priorities of: equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) and advancing reconciliation through transformation change.
