University Investment Trust Builds

The University Investment Trust (UIT) pools all donations to the university into one fund, so that the university is able to diversify its investments and generate higher returns. Donations to scholarships, infrastructure projects or any other area of the university are placed in the UIT where the funds are allowed to grow, enabling gifts to go much further over time. Donors receive a Quarterly Review of the UIT, which details the growth and value of the fund.

The UIT was established in 1989 and has grown to over $135 million (book value). Like many other universities across North America, the U of M realized that this mode of investment is the most effective.
