At the 2006 VP-Net Spring Institute Paul Daeninck stressed the importance of communication in his panel address. He stated that as a physician, you are not helping your patients if you are not communicating with them. "That’s the nature or the basis of what we do, I mean as a physician when I see a patient I sit down and I talk with them to find out what where they’re at, what’s their problems, what do we want to do together to make it better? If we are not doing that, if I as a physician am not doing that, I’m not doing anything. I’m not helping anybody."
