Prior Learning
Assessment and Recognition: The Manitoba Government's Commitment to
Making it Work
Abstract:
In November 2001,
the provincial government announced its policy framework for the implementation
of PLAR in three cornerstone service areas; post-secondary, advisory
services and industry.
This presentation
will describe the government's commitment to PLAR as part of its training
strategy for Manitobans. The reason for PLAR's importance (labour shortages
and equitable access to opportunities) and examples of how the system
is working will be discussed.
