MSBI Makes Gifts Go Further

The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative (MSBI) continued to increase the value of gifts donated to the University of Manitoba. Introduced by the Province of Manitoba in 1998, the program has encouraged many donors to establish or top up student awards with most being matched fifty cents to every dollar. To date, $5 million has been provided to Manitoba post-secondary institutions through the matching gift program. For students, this means more financial aid and a reduced debt load.

Gifts that are eligible for the MSBI include those directed to faculty-based or general scholarship and bursary funds, existing awards, and new awards established in a donor's name or in honour of someone of their choosing.
