CHARACTER OF THE JOB

Positions plan, organize, direct and control a function that has a small number of employees, moderate complexity and a range of diversity. While these positions are more typically working supervisors performing functions similar to those described in the Individual Contributor category, some may spend a majority of their time supervising a large number of staff that performs a wide range of routine responsibilities.

While positions at this level have likely developed a specialized technical expertise in a narrow and complex area of Information Technology, some may be well-rounded generalists responsible for a department's information technology needs and require some depth of expertise of the business area supported.

QUALIFICATIONS

Typically requires a degree and considerable related experience including supervisory experience.

An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

CHARACTER OF THE JOB

These positions are full-working-level systems professionals and have developed a recognized technical specialization in a narrow but complex area of information technology or have a breadth of capabilities across several related areas. Positions at this level have proficiency in most aspects of information technology including analysis, design factors, hardware and software requirements, system facilities and execution protocols. Those positions at this level, that are primarily responsible for networks, support LAN/WAN configurations across multiple platforms. Many of the positions identify, evaluate, tailor and implement vendor-supplied software.

While positions have little formal supervisory responsibilities, they are often Project Leaders of smaller projects with moderate complexity or may be the senior Information Technology professional for a department with moderately complex systems.
