About the program

School of Art Student Ambassadors play a key role in fostering community, sharing student experiences, and supporting events and programming at both the School and its Gallery. Whether welcoming prospective students, supporting visiting artists, or helping mount an exhibition, Ambassadors contribute meaningfully to the life of the School and gain valuable experience along the way.
Benefits of being an Ambassador
Ambassadors who complete at least 10 volunteer hours during the academic year may receive official recognition on their Experience Record. Hours are generally flexible, with a few set dates for key events. Benefits of participating include experience in:
Public speaking
Event planning and support
Art installation and handling
Leadership and collaboration
Community engagement
Gallery operations
Activities
Activities are shaped around each Ambassador's strengths and interests. Whether welcoming guests, working with artists, setting up exhibitions, or organizing events, there are a variety of opportunities available. Examples include:
Student Ambassador
Greeting guests at recruitment or School-wide events
Providing guided tours for prospective students or special guests
Leading demonstrations of art techniques or studio practices
Assisting with event setup, cleanup, and planning
Gallery Ambassador
Helping install or take down art exhibitions
Supporting opening receptions, workshops, and performances
Assisting visiting artists with their work
Offering tours of current exhibitions
Eligibility and applying
Be enrolled part-time or full-time at the School of Art
Be in good academic standing
Have completed at least 24 credit hours
Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
Be enthusiastic about the School and willing to share their experience
Have an interest in outreach, event coordination, or gallery support (training is provided)
Application Process
Step 1: Complete the application form (applications accepted year-round)
Step 2: Applicants will be contacted to discuss interests and availability
Step 3: Attend a short interview or meeting to get started
Note: Due to limited spots, only selected applicants will be contacted. Selection is based on availability, experience, and scheduling. Applications remain active for the academic year. Students may withdraw their application at any time by contacting the School.
