More ways to study at UM

There are many pathways to becoming a UM student. From improving your English skills to preparing for undergraduate studies or advancing your career through professional programs, you’ll find flexible options designed to support your goals.

  • English Language Centre

The English Language Centre’s (ELC) Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP) prepares you for university studies by providing you with the language skills necessary to succeed academically. If you are conditionally accepted to the University, you will be able to move directly into your undergraduate program without submitting a new application after completing the ELC’s Level 5 program.

  • International College of Manitoba

The International College of Manitoba (ICM) offers programs designed to prepare you for university-level studies. Upon successful completion of ICM studies, students can transfer directly into the second year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba.

  • Professional development programs

UM Extended Education offers one-year programs in business analysis, business management, human resources management and English designed to prepare you for life and work in Manitoba, Canada and North America.
