Report safely: Confidential or anonymous

It's your choice.

When you make a CONFIDENTIAL report, the Confidential Intake Coordinator will contact you to set up a confidential meeting with the Speak Up Lead in your College.

This meeting allows for a discussion regarding your report, potential ways forward, outcome options, and any concerns that you may have regarding confidentiality.

Based on this confidential discussion, you will then confirm whether or not you wish to pursue your concern, resubmit it as an ANONYMOUS report, or even withdraw it.

While we do accept ANONYMOUS reports, the ability to respond may be limited and we will be unable to provide you with feedback regarding actions taken.

Confidential report

Note: You will have the option to withdraw your report or change it to confidential after your initial discussion with the Confidential Intake Coordinator.

  • All reports are reviewed by the Office of Professionalism team.
  • Confidential reporters will be scheduled for a confidential intake meeting, usually conducted virtually but available in person upon request, with the applicable college lead and the intake coordinator or another representative from the Office of Professionalism. Reporters may bring a support person to the meeting.
  • Intake meetings provide reporters with support, resources, and discussion of next steps. Reporter confidentiality is a top priority: names are not shared, identifying details can be removed and reports may be delayed to further protect anonymity.
  • In some cases, such as safety concerns, harm to community or identified systemic issues, the Office of Professionalism may be required to act on the information.

Anonymous report

Note: Anonymous reports are important in helping the Office of Professionalism understand concerns, identify patterns, and promote respectful learning and work environments. However, anonymity may limit the actions we can take—particularly when a more formal response is required.

  • All reports are reviewed by the Office of Professionalism team.
  • When appropriate, concerns are addressed by sharing de‑identified themes with the relevant Person of Meaningful Authority (PMA)—typically the individual who supervises the person named. The PMA is asked to confirm once the feedback has been communicated.
  • In cases involving concerns about an individual’s behaviour, procedural fairness may require sharing enough information to allow for a meaningful response and accountability. Whenever possible, we will outline options, supports, privacy considerations, and potential next steps before taking action.

If you choose to report anonymously, you will be assigned a unique User ID and will be prompted to create a password to allow secure communication with us. This enables us to share supports, ask questions, and keep you informed about how your concern is being addressed. Your privacy is a priority. Your identity will remain unknown, and any identifying details in your report will be removed. Information will only be shared in a de‑identified manner.

We are here to support you and will handle your report with care and sensitivity.
