The Jones lab's research focuses on environmental exposures in the prenatal and early childhood periods, and seeks to establish when and how these become biologically embedded. Our long-term goal is to use cutting edge epigenetic tools in combination with well-developed birth cohorts and controlled exposures to investigate the mechanism and timing of biological embedding of specific environmental exposures on long-term health.
Dr. Meaghan Jones received a bachelor of science (honours) in biology from Mount Allison University, and her PhD in medical genetics from the University of British Columbia.
She pursued post-doctoral training at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, studying epigenetics of early life environments.
In 2018, she joined the department of biochemistry and medical genetics at the University of Manitoba.
Dr. Jones’ current focus is the role of epigenetic changes in the link between mothers’ exposure to inhaled pollutants like cigarette smoke and their children’s risk of developing asthma.
