Dr. Peymani is a pharmacoepidemiologist with expertise in drug safety, real-world evidence, and chronic disease management.
His primary research interests include drug utilization and the safety and effectiveness of medications, with a specific focus on vulnerable populations. His work leverages large-scale health data, population-level analyses, and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to generate real-world insights that inform clinical and policy decisions.
He is a co-investigator, co-applicant, and collaborator on Canadian research grants such as: CIHR project grant, Research Manitoba grant and CHRIM operating grant.
I strongly believe leadership is about motivating and empowering others to succeed and it is about building strong teams who work together. My philosophy of leadership is both innate and shaped by life experience, and the diversity in my relationships will allow for creative and innovative thinking. Leadership isn’t always about managing others, and It’s about being a role model for others to aspire not only professionally but personally and for the community.
Great teaching is not just about knowledge transfer; it is about inspiring a passion for learning and preparing students for future challenges. I believe effective educators possess a deep passion for their subject, a commitment to fostering critical thinking, and the ability to prepare students for a complex, unpredictable academic career. Dr. Payam Peymani is an assistant professor of pharmacoepidemiology at the College of Pharmacy, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba.
He has professional experience across leading research institutions in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada, including roles as a Senior Researcher, Postdoctoral Fellow, and Lead Research Associate.
Dr. Peymani has more than 10 years of teaching experience; pharmacoepidemiology, biostatistics, research methodology, and scientific literature evaluation at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
