Ready to Roam is the first event in a series of UM Orientation activities designed especially for newly admitted students and their supporters who are new to the UM Fort Garry campus.
This event offers an evening of activities, sessions, and tours to help you navigate the beginning of your university adventure, introducing you to the spaces, places, opportunities, and supports available to all UM students.
Arriving on campus
Whether you are walking, wheeling, driving or bussing, UM promotes sustainable transportation options to and on our campuses.
If you are driving to campus, please follow the signage to the B-Lot parking lot (google maps link). Parking will be available in B-lot for all Ready to Roam guests starting at 3:00 p.m. on July 28, 2026.
Info Fair
Runs from 3 to 7 p.m. | UMSU University Centre Patio
Explore the Info Fair to connect with a wide range of UM faculties, student groups, and support services. This is your chance to ask questions, gather resources, and learn more about the opportunities available to you as a new student. Whether you're looking for academic guidance, student life involvement, or campus services, there’s something here for everyone!

Sessions and mini lectures
Sessions and mini lectures run from 3 to 8 p.m. in various locations
Attend a variety of sessions and mini lectures designed to give you a preview of university learning and student life. From sample lectures across different disciplines to sessions focused on academic success and transitioning to university, these interactive experiences will help you feel more prepared and confident for your first year.

Campus tours
3:30 — 7:30 p.m | Meet on the Buller Lawn / Innovation Plaza
Join a guided campus tour to familiarize yourself with key buildings, classrooms, and student spaces across the Fort Garry campus. Led by knowledgeable student guides, these tours are a great way to get comfortable navigating campus and to learn tips from current students.
Tours are on a drop-in basis and are designed to be flexible and accessible for all attendees. Tours will leave every 10-15 minutes and last about 30 minutes. The last tour will depart at 7:30 p.m.
