Interested in being a vendor at Indigenous Orientation 2026?

We’re inviting Indigenous student entrepreneurs, artists and makers to sign up for a chance to participate as a vendor at this year’s Orientation on Wednesday, September 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Migizii Agamik. Due to limited space, only 6-8 vendors will be selected through a random draw.

To be considered, please complete this form by end of day August 13. Selected vendors will be notified on August 14.

There is no cost to participate, but tables are reserved for current UM Indigenous students only.

Who should definitely attend this event?


If you're a new Indigenous student, this orientation is designed especially for you! Returning Indigenous students are also encouraged to join and reconnect. Non-Indigenous students, staff and faculty are warmly welcome to attend and learn more about the Indigenous campus community.

What will I get out of attending?

You’ll meet new people, build your support network, learn about academic and cultural resources, and enjoy a free lunch. Stop by the Indigenous Student Centre booth to pick up your Bingo card for the chance to win an Indigenous-designed UM t-shirt.

As a new Indigenous student, what’s the best way to navigate the event?

Start at the Indigenous Student Centre table to pick up your Bingo card and find out more about the event. Then explore the core academic, cultural and leadership support booths.

Enjoy the free lunch at Migizii Agamik, take a tour of Migizii Agamik at 11:30 or 1:30 pm, take part in the live entertainment and join lawn games.

Don’t forget to complete your Bingo card to earn an Indigenous-designed UM t-shirt.  

Can I connect with Elders at the event?

Absolutely. Elders will be present at Migizii Agamik to offer cultural and spiritual support. Everyone is welcome to stop by, listen and engage in conversation.

Is the event accessible?

Yes! Migizii Agamik and the surrounding area are wheelchair accessible. If you need specific accommodations, please contact the Indigenous Student Centre (isc@umanitoba.ca)  in advance.

Directions

  • Indigenous Orientation 2026 will take place across several connected indoor and outdoor areas on the Fort Garry campus of UM. There will be clear signage and multiple activity stations located at:

    • Migizii Agamik – Bald Eagle Lodge (114 Sidney Smith St)

    • Migizii Agamik Lawn (surrounding green space)
    • Pedway around Migizii Agamik (green-highlighted area on map)

    These central locations are easy to access on foot.
