We are proud to have established Canada’s first graduate-level physician assistant (PA) educational program, along with a shadowing program for students preparing to enter the profession. Our leadership in the field was instrumental in the creation of subsequent master’s level PA programs in other provinces.

The Canadian Association of Physician Assistants is a nationally incorporated bilingual professional association that advocates on behalf of its members.
Accreditation
The University of Manitoba Master of Physician Assistant Studies has maintained National accreditation since 2010. As of 2021, the program’s accreditation is with Accreditation Canada.
The Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) has agreed to recognize the graduates of nationally accredited physician assistant programs as eligible for entry to the physician assistant certification examination, provided that the program confirms their ongoing compliance with accreditation requirements.
