Teaching philosophy

Cheryl Pryce's teaching philosophy is grounded in mentorship, experiential learning, and student success. She believes students learn most effectively when they are actively engaged in the learning process and can connect theoretical concepts to authentic clinical situations.

Drawing from her experiences in healthcare and mentorship, Cheryl fosters experiential learning opportunities that encourage critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and evidence-informed practice. She creates supportive and inclusive learning environments where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas, and learning from mistakes. Through guided reflection, meaningful feedback, and collaborative learning activities, she helps students build confidence while developing the knowledge and skills required for nursing practice.

Cheryl is passionate about inspiring learners to become self-directed professionals who value lifelong learning and continuous growth. She strives to make learning relevant, engaging, and applicable to clinical practice through simulation, case-based learning, and interactive classroom experiences. By serving as both an educator and mentor, she supports students throughout their educational journey, encouraging them to recognize their strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve their professional goals.

Biography

Cheryl Pryce is an instructor II with a professional background in critical care nursing. Her clinical career provided extensive experience in caring for patients in highly acute healthcare environments, where she developed strong skills in clinical reasoning, rapid decision-making, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered care.

Throughout her nursing career, Cheryl worked closely with critical care nursing students, serving as a preceptor and contributing to their transition into practice. These experiences strengthened her commitment to supporting the next generation of nurses and informed her transition into nursing education.
