My teaching philosophy is rooted in a student-centred approach that recognizes each learner as a unique individual with valuable strengths, experiences, and potential. I believe students learn best in an inclusive and supportive environment where they feel respected, engaged, and encouraged to grow.
As a nursing educator, I see my role as both a teacher and a coach. I try to create meaningful learning experiences that connect theory to real-world nursing practice. Students are more motivated and successful when they understand the relevance of what they are learning and how it applies to patient care and professional practice.
I am an internationally educated nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from India. My nursing career spans diverse clinical and academic settings, providing me with a foundation in patient care, professional practice, and nursing education.
After immigrating to Canada, I began my nursing career at William Osler Health System in Ontario, where I worked as a bedside nurse on the Resource Team. This role provided exposure to a wide range of acute care environments, strengthening my clinical judgment, adaptability and interprofessional collaboration skills.
Following my move to Manitoba in 2020, I continued to build my clinical expertise in medical-surgical and subacute care settings at Seven Oaks General Hospital and Concordia Hospital. These experiences allowed me to care for patients with complex health needs while mentoring and supporting nursing students and new staff in clinical practice.
My passion for nursing education led me to transition into academic roles as a clinical instructor with Georgian College, Orangeville(Ontario) and a clinical education facilitator with the College of Nursing, University of Manitoba. Since 2022, I have served as a full-time instructor at the University of Manitoba, where I teach both classroom and clinical courses.
