Discover Days

Join us for a two-day celebration of all things science!

2026 Get your school involved with Discover Days

Discover Days are intended to allow students in Grades 3 to 5 an opportunity to experience a science-filled day on campus. In early spring, we will review the applications and contact the schools selected to participate in Discover Days.

If you teach grades 3 to 5 and are interested in having your school attend Discover Days, please fill out the Discover Days interest form to be contacted when applications open in early 2026.

2026 Help us make Discover Days happen

Run an activity or booth for Discover Days and experience the magic of impressing kids with science!

What we are looking for

We're looking for hands-on, engaging science and engineering activities geared towards kids in grades 3-5 (ages 8-10). Activities are 30 minutes long, and you will only have one class with you at a time.

What to expect

Each class has between 15 and 30 students, multiple chaperones, including their homeroom teacher, and a trained Science Rendezvous guide who is with them for their whole Discover Day experience. Booths and activities start being confirmed in late fall.

Volunteer

If you are interested in volunteering for 2026, check out the UM Science Rendezvous website. Science Rendezvous 2026 takes place at UM Fort Gary Campus on Saturday, May 9. Discover Days 2026, an invite-only version of Science Rendezvous, intended for schools only, happens April 29 and 30. We encourage you to also choose to volunteer for Discover Days when you are filling out the Science Rendezvous volunteer application.

Register your booth or activity

What is the difference between a booth and an activity?

Activities are 30-minute workshops on Discover Days only. We usually have between 15 and 20 different activities. Past examples include Science of Sound, Math Mania, and Discover DNA.

Booths are part of both Discover Days and the public Science Rendezvous day. They are hands-on and give attendees a quicker look into one scientific concept. Past examples include the oobleck run, giant Plinko, and binary magic.
