This event brings together Filipino Canadian scholars, students, and graduates to foster community, advocate within institutions, and produce knowledge from critical and interdisciplinary perspectives. Inspired by Black and Indigenous scholars, we dream of a world in whereby Filipino scholars proudly reclaim research on our own terms and strategically occupy the academic institution, grounded in our own ways of knowing, being, and doing. Accepting applications for the Master of Social Work based in Indigenous Knowledges

The MSW-IK program is currently accepting applications for the 2026 intake.

This graduate program prepares students for advanced social work grounded in Indigenous perspectives, emphasizing colonial history, social justice, anti-oppressive practice, and community empowerment, while fostering deep engagement with Indigenous helping practices, values, and communities.

Our programs of study prepare students for ethical, competent, critically reflective, innovative, anti-oppressive, accountable and effective social work practice at all levels.

Our researchers collaborate with professionals across the world in an effort to promote social justice and enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Our goal is to advance the fields of social work practice and social policy, striving to promote respect for human rights and dignity, individual worth and wellbeing, diversity, social inclusion, and the principles of social justice.

Social Work Bulletin

Notice for applicants to the MSW, MSW-IK and PhD programs:

After the annual application deadline, applications are reviewed on a committee basis by the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Once this process is complete, applications are sent to the Faculty of Social Work internal admissions committee. The Faculty of Social Work internal admissions committee reviews the applications and their decisions are sent to all applicants in March / April.
