Theresa Barylski, a University of Manitoba Agriculture Diploma graduate, grew up her family farm in the Interlake area. She worked approximately 12 years as a Senior Relationship Manager for Farm Credit Canada in the Carman – Morden area before continuing her full-time career as Director of Agriculture Advisory Services for SW Advisory out of Headingley Manitoba. She specializes in farm business planning, farm succession, retirement, and estate planning. When she is not at the office or instructing at the University, you can find her in the Roland area helping on the farm or somewhere in Canada or US riding her AQHA horses.

Lacey graduated from the Diploma in Agriculture program in 2022 and went on to complete a degree in Agribusiness. Lacey now works as an instructor and farm management advisor in the School of Agriculture. Outside the university, Lacey helps manage her family’s grain and beef farm, with plans to take over the operation in the future.

Bailey is a graduate of the Diploma in Agriculture program and farms grain with his family near Rathwell. In addition to his agricultural work, he is actively involved in his community, serving as the treasurer and helping operate the local skating rink.

Dr. Gwen Donohoe grew up on a mixed grain and beef operation in The Pas MB. She was an Agro at the U of S where she received her Degree in Agriculture and then went home to her family farm, starting her own beef herd. During this time she sat on her local Kelsey Conservation District board. After some years, Gwen decided to go back to school and obtained her Masters and PhD in a multidisciplinary Animal and Soil sciences program at the U of M. While doing her graduated degrees, Gwen started a business in Winnipeg, Sagehill Stables, that she continues to run today. Gwen has also sat as a board member on the Manitoba Rural Adaptation Council and Manitoba Horse Council. Gwen teaches Beef Production and Sustainable Agriculture Systems in the Diploma program.

Philip has been doing small scale vegetable farming for 20 years with his wife Leanne. They have also done added value products for the families that they provided foods for. He has been heavily involved in 4-H at many levels, watching youth as they develop into the leaders of tomorrow.

Autumn graduated from the Diploma in Agriculture program in 2025. She was raised in Eriksdale, Manitoba, on a cow-calf operation, where she developed a strong passion for the livestock side of agriculture. Autumn has gained valuable experience working in veterinary clinics and managing herd health. She currently farms alongside her parents and brother on their family operation, Triple Oak Farms. Outside of farming and teaching, Autumn enjoys participating in horse shows, baking, and spending time with her family.

Jonah Langelotz is an instructor with hands-on experience in grain farming, organic vegetable production, and greenhouse management. He grows and markets garlic in southern MB., where he lives with his growing family. Jonah is passionate about growing food, and learning about different production systems.

Brent farms grain with his parents in the Oak Bluff area. A former diploma student himself, he is well-acquainted with the program and enjoys offering guidance to second-year students. In his spare time, Brent enjoys watching the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Jets, golfing, and reading.

Colin Penner, a University of Manitoba Agriculture Diploma graduate, operates a successful family farm near Elm Creek, Manitoba, alongside his brother and parents, cultivating soybeans, canola, wheat, and oats with a focus on progressive farming practices. As a devoted father of three, he instills a passion for agriculture in his children while actively serving on the Keystone Agricultural Producers board to advance the industry. His commitment to innovative farming techniques and community leadership round out his free time.

Garrett operates a grain farm near Altona with his wife, their three children, and his parents. In addition to farming, he is the Lead Instructor with the School of Agriculture, where he teaches the second-year Farm Management Project course. In this role, he guides students as they prepare for their final presentations. Outside of work and the farm, Garrett enjoys staying active and getting involved in the various sports and activities his kids participate in.

Since immigrating to Manitoba, he's pursued entrepreneurship in organic horticultural and livestock management and enjoys supporting others in preparing to manage their own operations holistically.

Jay Whetter is a leading Canadian agricultural communicator specializing in agronomy knowledge transfer and research extension. He is always on the lookout for innovations, ideas and issues that might interest farmers.
Jay is editor of Canola Digest magazine and knowledge transfer manager with the Canola Council of Canada. Jay and Toban Dyck co-host The Extensionists, a podcast about communication, agriculture extension and how people inspire action.
Jay grew up on Chain Lakes Farm near Dand, Manitoba and has been a farm journalist since 1998. He now lives in Winnipeg.
Carla Antonation, a practicing Arborist in Winnipeg having achieved her Arborist Certification from the International Society of Arboriculture. Carla co-owns and operates a tree care practice called Trilogy Tree Services Ltd., where she divides her time between climbing, consulting and managing the business. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Urban Forest Council.
