Role

Jackie coordinates the Teaching and Learning Certificate (TLC) program at the University of Manitoba.

She supports faculty and full-time instructors in their teaching practice, helping them develop key competencies in curricular design, communication, student advocacy, assessment, and lifelong learning. Jackie ensures the program runs smoothly and aligns with evidence-based best practices in higher education pedagogy.

Biography

With over 25 years of experience in educational environments, Jackie has worked in various roles and sectors, including government, post-secondary institutions, and non-profit organizations. This breadth of experience has equipped her with a deep understanding of different learning needs and effective educational strategies.

Jackie has been deeply impacted by her teaching experiences in Japan and Northern Manitoba, both of which have shaped her approach to teaching and learning. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in constructivist and humanist principles, emphasizing active, student-centered learning and the holistic development of each learner.

Passionate about continuous learning, Jackie finds joy in facilitating engaging learning experiences. In her spare time, she has ventured into filmmaking, which has enriched her creative life and provided a fresh perspective on storytelling and education.

Jackie looks forward to collaborating with faculty and staff at the University of Manitoba to enhance educational practices to support students' growth and success.
