Tuition and financial supports

Don’t be discouraged by the cost of education, especially if your chosen career is in demand. Most students pay for post-secondary education with a combination of funds from many sources: savings, scholarships, bursaries, sponsorship, wages and loans.

Understanding the financial implications when applying to university can be challenging. Larissa, a UM alum and soon to be Faculty of Law student explains how she planned for this kind of investment and what she did to cover the costs of post-secondary education.

Scholarships

We offer more than $2.5 million in entrance scholarships and awards to new students each year. Most entrance scholarships are based on your grades in the last one or two years of high school. You will be considered for UM General Entrance Scholarships (and more!) when you apply for September admissions directly from high school by the March 1 deadline.

Bursaries

Each year, we offer more than $6 million in bursaries, ranging from $400 to $1000, to new and continuing students. Bursary awards are distributed based on demonstrated financial need, rather than academic merit, meaning you only need to meet the minimum academic standing.
