University honours

Each year, the University of Manitoba recognizes and celebrates outstanding faculty, staff and community members with special honours and awards.

  • Honorary degree

    The honorary degree is the highest honour the University of Manitoba can confer upon an individual for distinguished achievement in scholarship, the arts, or public service.

  • Peter D. Curry Chancellor's Award

    Made annually to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the development and/or governance of the University.

  • Distinguished professors

    Academic staff members who have demonstrated outstanding distinction in research, scholarship, creative endeavours, professional service and teaching.

  • Distinguished professors emeritus/emerita

    Distinguished Professors upon retirement, shall automatically receive the title Distinguished Professor Emeritus/Emerita.

  • Emeritus/Emerita titles

    Chancellor, Dean, Librarian, President and Professor Emeritus/Emerita are granted to those who have performed distinguished service in their respective roles.

  • Distinguished service award

    The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honour bestowed upon an individual by the Board of Governors.
