Junior Bisons girls youth league - spring session

Overview

This program welcomes all skill levels, from beginners to those refining fundamentals.

Our Junior Bisons girls youth league is designed to build confidence, skills and a love for the game in a fun and supportive environment. Each session features 20 minutes of focused skill development followed by 40 minutes of 3 vs 3 game play, giving athletes the perfect balance of learning and competition. To support development, players use lower nets, size 5 basketballs, helping them learn correct shooting form and ball control.  

Programming is led by Bisons basketball head coach Michele Sung and facilitated by Bisons student-athletes.

Junior Bisons high performance summer camp

Overview

Junior Bisons high performance basketball camps are designed for competitive athletes to build excellence on the court through high-quality, developmentally appropriate coaching. As part of a holistic approach to long-term athlete development, these camps provide an intense and challenging environment tailored for those looking to elevate their skill set. Each day includes on-court training, gameplay, alongside specialized strength and conditioning and sport science sessions.,

Programming is led by Bisons basketball head coaches Michele Sung and Kirby Schepp and facilitated by Bisons student-athletes.

Previous basketball experience is required.

Investors Group Athletic Centre will be closed for renovations from June - September 2026. Programs will be relocated to additional gyms on campus.  For more information please visit the service disruptions page

Mini Bisons Basketball

Mini Bisons Basketball is offered in Fall and Winter sessions, as well as part of our summer camp menu.

  • Mini Bisons I

    Designed by our Bisons head coaches, the Mini Bisons Basketball program allows children to play the game in a focused environment suited to the development of their physical, mental and basketball skills by instituting long-term athlete development (LTAD) modifications to the adult game. With high repetitions and touches, it is player-oriented with the emphasis is on skill development in combination with the teaching and loading of actions. The perfect place to start for any young basketball fan aged 5-7.

    Mini Bisons Basketball is part of Mini U.

  • Mini Bisons II

    Mini Bisons Basketball II is designed to build on skills learned in Mini Bisons I (but previous basketball experience is not necessary). With program development and coaching by Bisons student-athletes, participants will engage in fun, high quality and developmentally appropriate training, programming, and coaching as part of a holistic approach to long-term athlete development. Ideal for campers aged 8-11.

Level Up elite summer skills training

Overview

Take your game to the next level with Bisons summer skills training. Work with Bisons coaches and Bisons men’s basketball players to develop better ball handling, 1 on 1 scoring skills, shooting fundamentals and decision-making skills. Our teaching focus incorporates fundamental teaching breakdowns as well as a variety of game speed repetitions in 1 on 1 or small aided game environments. A unique, high-energy atmosphere keeps athletes of all ages highly engaged.

Athlete Membership - multi sport strength and conditioning

Overview

The Athlete Membership is a high‑performance training program designed to help athletes ages 15+ build strength, speed and confidence. Led by strength and conditioning coaches in a supervised training environment, athletes receive fully customized programs tailored to their sport, goals and stage of development. 

Members train up to three times per week with unlimited access to semi‑private strength and conditioning sessions in the high‑performance training centre, during specified training times. Progress is tracked throughout the program to ensure consistent development and long‑term athletic growth.

This program is ideal for Junior Bison club and swim team athletes looking to maintain year‑round training, while remaining open to athletes from all clubs and sport backgrounds. 

This program offers flexible monthly enrollment options available for July or August, or a discounted two‑month commitment. 

With professional coaching, personalized programming, and exceptional value per session, this membership is an investment in performance, resilience and confidence.

Junior Bisons basketball club teams

Overview

​​The Junior Bisons Basketball club offers opportunities to athletes aged 10-18 at all skill levels to enhance their technical skills, tactical knowledge and fitness. This program ensures a high-level training experience suitable for both new athletes and those aspiring to advance to post-high school competition.

Programming is led by Bisons basketball head coaches Michele Sung and Kirby Schepp and is faciltated by club coaches.

All team seasons run September to May.

  • High School teams (2008-2010 boys and girls) will break from December to February for players to compete in the high school basketball season.

All teams will practice twice a week.

Youth teams (2011-2014 boys and girls) participate in the Peg City Youth Basketball League.

High school teams participate in the Peg City Showcase (Sept.-Nov. 2024)

All teams will participate in spring tournaments. While we are still working to plan the 2025-26 tournaments schedule for each team, the tournaments attended last season were:

Roster size, league prices and tournament entry will impact final costs and will be finalized in August.

By accepting a position on one of our teams and paying your above player fees you are entitled to train and practice as a Junior Bisons athlete.  Playing time however, is earned and is based on many factors including attendance, work ethic, attitude and game preparedness.

Family meeting

Families play a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of young athletes' development. In order to ensure families have all of the information necessary to ensure a successful season for their athlete our leadership team hosts a meeting after tryouts, before the season begins. Here you will meet the coaching staff, complete the team registration process, receive team schedules and complete online apparel orders.

Junior Bisons girls spring elite basketball teams

Overview

The Junior Bisons Girls Basketball club runs three spring elite teams, ages 13U, 15U and 17U, that compete in the Prairie Elite Basketball League across western Canada. Each team in PEBL must be sponsored by an accredited university program. The league includes junior teams from universities from Calgary, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Athlete power and speed training

Overview

Developed by the Bisons' strength and conditioning coaches, this dynamic program takes a structured approach to athlete development. Focusing on the traits like speed, power, agility and coordination can help make your young athlete an exciting 'game changer' in their sport of choice.

Training sessions will include exercises and equipment focusing on sprinting, jumping, throwing and change of direction skills. These techniques will help develop athletes of all levels and across all sports, improving performance and reducing the chance of injury.
 
This program is designed to complement your athlete's existing sport schedule, including practice and game days, without compromising their energy or performance.
