Central Showdown

The Junior Bisons' Central Showdown invitational volleyball tournament is a high-performance competition opportunity for 17U and 18U teams from across Canada. The tournament brings together 32 teams (16 male and 16 female) for a weekend of 144 games.

Central Showdown is part of Junior Bisons' ongoing mission to develop, enhance and promote positive teamwork and leadership for young athletes.

Pre-sale

Orders placed before March 8 were available for pickup during the tournament at no extra cost. Orders could be shipped individually for an additional fee.

Tournament sales

The store remained open during the tournament and closed Monday, March 23, at 11:59 p.m. (CST). Orders placed during this time are completed and shipped in approximately 7 days. Items were available for pick-up from Home Run Sports in Winnipeg or could be shipped for a fee.  

Technical information

  • Format

    All matches will be: 

    • Best two-out-of-three sets
    • First two sets are to 25, win by 2, no cap
    • Third set (if necessary) is played to 15, no cap
    • Teams guaranteed nine matches, all full court
    • Games will start ahead of schedule if deemed reasonable by the tournament supervisor
    • Volleyball Canada tie-breaking procedure in effect 

    Teams are asked to provide one volunteer scorekeeper and one linesperson each game. Parents and guardians can serve in both roles.

  • Tournament rules

    All standard Volleyball Canada Age Class Rules will be observed, with the exception and inclusion of the following: 

    • Max 14 athletes on the roster
    • 12 substitutions, unlimited
    • Liberos are permitted
    • Ceiling rule to apply in Frank Kennedy matches only
  • Warm up 

    Volleyball Canada National Championship Warm-up Protocol will be used. Teams to provide their own warm up balls. Full warm-up guaranteed for the first match of the day and will consist of: 

    • Minimum four minutes shared court
    • Five minutes Team A full court
    • Five minutes Team B full court
    • "Digging warm-up" during the opposing team's court time is not permitted
    • Referees and Tournament Supervisors will have final say over warm-up times if the tournament is running behind.

Photography

We will have a professional photographer at the tournament. High-resolution, professionally edited images will be available to participants following the tournament.

Teams with athletes who have not consented to their social media waiver and for whom photos may not be shared must inform our club administration before the tournament begins. Those teams will be excluded from photos and galleries.
