Biography
Jeremy has a BSc. from the University of Winnipeg, Department of Geography, focused on GIS, remote sensing, and data analysis. Since graduating, he continued to study and build skills related to GIS, Data Science, Data Governance and Visual Storytelling.
Jeremy has worked as a GIS professional since 2012. Jeremy’s initial GIS position was through the Manitoba STEP (Student Temporary Employment) program, where he worked with the Province of Manitoba, Conservation and Water Stewardship Flood Forecasting branch, creating, and maintaining flood boundaries, LiDAR data analysis, and historical flood mapping from ortho photography. He then moved to the Community and Regional Planning Branch of the Department of Indigenous and Municipal Relations, where he worked on inter and intra-departmental initiatives as a Geospatial Analyst. His work focused primarily on parcel drafting and regional cartography, as well as land use analysis, geomatics capacity building initiatives, and data gathering.
Since 2019 Jeremy has been a sessional instructor in the Master of City Planning program at the University of Manitoba, teaching the GIS for Planners course that prepares planning students with the fundamental skills required for GIS analysis and cartography for planning purposes.
Currently Jeremy is a Data Scientist with the Winnipeg Police Service where he creates and maintains spatial data, creates apps, maps, reports, and data visualizations for a variety of internal and external clients.
