The International Excellence Entrance Scholarship program highlights exceptional international high school graduates who combine outstanding leadership potential with academic giftedness.

One University of Manitoba International Excellence Entrance Scholarship valued at $25,000 will be offered to students who:

  1. are international.

  2. are enrolled full-time (minimum 80% course load) in the first year of study in University 1 or any faculty, college or school at the University of Manitoba with a direct entry option.

  3. Have achieved a minimum admission average of 90% across five of the following senior level high school courses: Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Sciences, English, First Language Literature, Geography, History, Music and Visual Arts.

  4. Have demonstrated strong leadership qualities and sustained, meaningful community involvement.

  5. Have completed a University of Manitoba application for admission by December 1st, including payment of application fee.

Two University of Manitoba International Excellence Entrance Scholarships valued at $10,000 each will be offered to international undergraduate students who:

  1. Have achieved the minimum admission requirements for University 1 or any faculty, college or school at the University of Manitoba with a direct entry option.

  2. Have demonstrated strong leadership qualities and sustained, meaningful community involvement.

  3. Have completed a University of Manitoba application for admission by December 1st, including payment of application fee.

Short-listed applicants will be ranked in a level of first, second and third place based on the results from the award application and the admissions application. 

Helpful Information

Applicants:

  • Ensure you provide ample time for the recommender you choose to provide feedback by the application deadline. Regardless of when you send the recommender a request, all portions of the application are due on December 1.
  • We require one letter of recommendation from your recommender (reference) who is either a current teacher or principal (translated into English if required).
  • Choose a recommender that will be able to provide enough information about you for the selection committee review.

Recommenders:

  • Please ensure you are able to submit your recommendation of the applicant by December 1.
  • Please include as much information as you can that showcases your experience with the applicant.
  • If you are not able to fulfill a recommender request from the applicant, please advise the applicant with ample time to find another recommender.
