Fall 2026 workshop schedule
Session 1
Social Styles
Tuesday, November 10
10:30 am to Noon CDT
In this foundational session, participants are introduced to the Merrill and Reid Social Styles framework — a well-established model for understanding individual communication preferences and behaviours. Participants explore the four social styles (Analytical, Driver, Amiable, and Expressive) and gain insight into their own dominant style as observed by others. The session draws on the Johari Window to explore the relationship between self-perception and the perceptions of those we work with — a particularly relevant lens for leaders whose credibility depends on both technical expertise and interpersonal trust.
Session 2
Feedback
Tuesday, November 17
10:30 am to Noon CDT
This session provides a clear, respectful framework for giving and receiving feedback that motivates rather than diminishes. Participants explore both reinforcing feedback (acknowledging and affirming strong performance) and redirecting feedback (addressing gaps or concerns with honesty and care). The session also examines what it means to receive feedback well — an equally important skill for leaders who model a culture of continuous learning. In academic environments, where performance expectations are complex, timelines are long, and the work is often deeply personal, many leaders find feedback conversations particularly challenging.
Session 3
Ensuring Accountability
Tuesday, November 24
10:30 am to Noon CDT
This session reframes accountability as an act of leadership care — providing the clarity, support, and honest engagement that allows people to do their best work. Drawing on Peter Bregman’s Six Cs of Accountability framework, participants explore how clear intentions, clear expectations, clear capability, clear measurement, clear feedback, and clear outcomes work together to create conditions for consistent performance. The Decision Tree is also examined as a structure for delegating decisions at the appropriate level.
